Hello!
Stocks and profits are often synonymous and why not?
It’s a well-established fact that the Gates and the Buffets of the world were mainly created by the power of the stock market. However, for every successful or lucky investor, there are atleast 40 others who’ve been unsuccessful and 59 others who’d love to try but are scared witless and extremely paranoid. I used to be in the 59-category, then slowly inched my way into the group of the unfortunate-40.
It took me 8 years to realize that I wasn’t utilizing my best strengths to my advantage– instead I was just going with the flow. I was being a follower and not a leader. Coming to my strengths, my engineering and computer science backgrounds and careers have provided me with a decent sense of logic and deduction. And if science can logically explain an apple falling down from a tree then it can but surely explain the ups and downs of the stock market. There’s order even in chaos…
Yes, investing in stocks is a science!
The benefit of the internet is also it’s bane! There’s so much information available today and no single place which can be completely trusted. The message boards are polluted, blogs and sites influenced by day-traders and short-term riders. It’s not obvious what’s wheat and what’s chaff! What does one do? This used to be my dilemma as well. There’s straight-jacket profiles for investors– either you are a value investor or a day-trader. But I wanted both the risk-free nature of value-investing combined with immediate returns. Not the 5-10 year fare, which value investing principles espouse. This thought is the foundation of my investing strategy, trend investing. This involves knowing the pulse of the market and always moving ahead of the curve.
After noodling over it for a few days, I found myself devising a strategy– thanks to which I’m now a successful small investor. The purpose of this blog is to share my analysis, principles and thoughts on what stock’s hot and what’s not, what’s to be watched and what’s to be ignored etc. that I do on a daily basis.
This is my attempt to share and give to the community what I wish was available to me, 8 years ago.
This blog will detail my experiences with the often rugged and unforgiving, yet rewarding (if done right) and wonderful world of stocks and investing. The goal is simple and best explained in the title of this blog.
Viva Stocks!
